Energy Capital Credit Union (ECCU) has selected CheckAlt to provide duplicate detection services for ECCU’s branch and mobile item capture. CheckAlt is a leader in Check 21 payment and item processing solutions for financial institutions and merchants.
“The benefits of Mobile Remote Deposit Capture are quite clear but depend on having the proper controls in place,” said Linda Pearsall, executive vice president of ECCU. “CheckAlt’s duplicate detection gives us and our members peace of mind, and protects ECCU against processing the same item multiple times, whether from an unintentional mobile or branch re-deposit or a true fraud attempt.”
CheckAlt’s Duplicate Detection audits items deposited both at the branch and via mobile device, to ensure duplicates are caught across all processing batches before being converted to X9 files. Leveraging the check routing number, check account number, check number, and check dollar amount, the CheckAlt system reviews each item being processed against previously deposited items for indications of duplication. Items found to be duplicates are rejected and not sent processed for clearing.
“We’re delighted to be able to deliver this service to ECCU,” said Shai Stern, co-chairman and CEO, CheckAlt. “CheckAlt works exceedingly hard to foster client relationships and continue to deliver value as the needs of our customers expand and change.”
